Business Registration Fees

In accordance with the Business Registration Ordinance all companies registered in Hong Kong are required to pay an annual fee for business registration to Inland Revenue Department (IRD). The fee for business registration serves as a license for the right to work in Hong Kong. The first fee payment is made for registration of a company, and then the requirement to pay the fee comes to the company at the expiration of the period of one year beginning with the date on which it is incorporated. A payment requirement is sent to the company's address, approximately the month before the expiration date of the business registration certificate. Payment must be made before the previous business registration certificate expiry date. A company receives the certificate after fee is paid. In practice, there are 2 types of certificates. The period of validity for the first type of certificate is one year and for the second type is three years from the issue date. The amount to be paid for the certificate is fixed and depends on the date of issue.
