Secretary for Commerce & Economic Development Gregory So will pay a five-day duty visit to three cities in the United States to promote co-operation and exchange.
Mr So will leave on June 9, to join Chief Executive CY Leung's duty visit to New York, to attend the Trade Development Council's trade promotion events, including a 'Think Asia, Think Hong Kong' symposium. He will also join the Chief Executive's meetings with political and business leaders, and Hong Kong people working and studying there.
While in New York, he will also attend the New York Asian Film Festival's Hong Kong Movie Week opening reception, and speak at a press conference to promote the Hong Kong movie industry.
On June 12, Mr So will visit San Francisco, to meet with the mayor, local businesspeople and entrepreneurs. He will also speak at a reception to promote Hong Kong's development of arts and culture.
On June 13, he will visit a biotechnology start-up in San Francisco and an information technology company in Silicon Valley. He will also speak at a business luncheon in Silicon Valley on Hong Kong's future as an intellectual property trading and management centre.
Mr So will arrive in Los Angeles in the evening of the same day, to attend a gathering with former Hong Kong residents living there.
He will also address the opening session of a 'Think Asia, Think Hong Kong' symposium, host lunch for leaders of the cultural and creative industries, and visit arts education institutes.
Before concluding the trip, he will officiate at the opening of a promotional event of the Tourism Board, 'Hong Kong Live at The Grove'.
Mr So will return to Hong Kong on June 16.
