Secretary for Commerce & Economic Development Gregory So opened the Think Asia, Think Hong Kong symposium in Los Angeles yesterday, held by the Hong Kong Trade Development Council.
More than 650 American political and business leaders attended the symposium, part of a trade promotional event.
Other events include business seminars and business-matching meetings highlighting Hong Kong's advantages for US companies seeking business opportunities in Asia.
He later hosted a lunch for leaders in the cultural and creative sector, and shared with them the growing prominence of Hong Kong as a creative hub, and the Government's efforts to propel development in the cultural and creative industries.
Mr So then visited two arts education institutes to learn about their work in nurturing arts and creative talent.
He also opened the Hong Kong Live at The Grove event, staged by the Hong Kong Tourism Board. The event featured cultural performances, music and cuisine showcasing the best of Hong Kong.
Mr So will return to Hong Kong tomorrow.
