The Agreement between the Government of  Hong Kong Special Administrative Region of the People's Republic of China and the Government of the Republic of Austria for the Avoidance of Double Taxation and the Prevention of Fiscal Evasion with respect to Taxes on Income and on Capital has come into effect on 1 January 2011. The Agreement was formally signed on 25 May 2010. The Agreement  shall have effect in Hong Kong, according to paragraph 2 of Article 27 of the Agreement, for any year of assessment beginning on or after 1 April 2012.

The Agreement for the Avoidance of Double Taxation between the Government of Hong Kong and the Government of United Kingdom and the Agreement for the Avoidance of Double Taxation between the Government of  Hong Kong and the Government of His Majesty the Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam have come into effect.

Hong Kong  keeps expand the international cooperation on tax matters. Hong Kong today (December, 6) signed an agreement with Switzerland for the avoidance of double taxation and the prevention of fiscal evasion with respect to taxes on income.

Hong Kong today (December 1) signed an agreement with New Zealand for the avoidance of double taxation.The said agreement allows to expand mutual cooperation and investment reletionship berween two countries.

Hong Kong today signed an agreement with Japan on the avoidance of double taxation and the prevention of fiscal evasion with respect to taxes on income. 9 November, 2010 The Secretary for Financial Services and the Treasury of Hong Kong, Professor K C Chan, signed the agreement in Hong Kong on behalf of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region Government. The Consul-General of Japan in Hong Kong, Mr Yuji Kumamaru, signed on behalf of his Government. This is the 16th comprehensive agreement on the avoidance of double taxation (CDTA) concluded by Hong Kong with its trading partners.

Hong Kong, Mainland China Sign Legal Pact. October 27, 2010 The bilateral cooperation arrangement on legal services for commercial matters and arbitration was signed. The arrangement strengthens information exchanges and collaboration in organizing conferences on legal services and related activities. It will help enterprises in both places provide training in commercial and arbitration law to encourage the establishment of better risk management and dispute resolution mechanisms for commercial matters.

Companies Registry sees $141m surplus October 27, 2010 The Companies Registry generated a $141.3 million surplus in 2009-10 financial year. Its annual report delivered to the Legislative Council today said 107,416 new companies were incorporated during the year. Registrar of Companies Ada Chung said with the one-stop electronic service in place, the process of starting a business in Hong Kong will be significantly shortened from four working days to less than one day.

Agreements France for the avoidance of double taxation and the prevention of fiscal evasion with respect to taxes on income. October 21, 2010 Hong Kong signed today in Paris on October 21 an agreement with France for the avoidance of double taxation and the prevention of fiscal evasion with respect to taxes on income and on capital. This is the 15th CDTA concluded by Hong Kong with its trading partners, coming after those with Belgium, Thailand, Mainland China, Luxembourg, Vietnam, Brunei, the Netherlands, Indonesia, Hungary, Kuwait, Austria, the United Kingdom, Ireland and Liechtenstein.

BJBC granted banking licence October 13, 2010 The Hong Kong Monetary Authority has granted a banking licence to Bank Julius Baer & Co. Ltd, bringing the number of licensed banks in Hong Kong to 147. It will take effect today. BJBC is a bank incorporated in Switzerland and has maintained a local representative office in Hong Kong since 2006.
